Why does anyone on My Service Review care about Old Master drawings? Does anyone care about Old Master drawings? I guess there are households out there where this type of art is interesting and accessible. Antiques Period Boston couldn’t exist if people did not want things drawn by people from long ago. In fact Antiques Period Boston is not the only place one could buy such art but in New England you’ll want to take the trip into Boston to visit François Bardonnet and check out his collection of art and furniture by old people.

Antiquing is such an interesting concept in so many ways. As a verb it means to go around to businesses that sell old things and check them out with the potential intention of taking them home. Antiquing as method of making new furniture look old is also a weird activity but seems to be really popular.

Ruins of an old fort on a hilltop inscribed ‘A. no.2’ is my personal preference. I appreciate the way this drawing looks like a haunted castle that I might want to go and explore. Personally I really try to include a lot more color in my life but something about the grey wash in this drawing seems to add to the spookiness. This picture is described as being done in black chalk, pen and brown ink, grey wash, pen and brown ink framing lines.

A Large Drawing in the style of Guardi, Italian School is also really cool. I like art that looks like portals and this one definitely does. At $2400 it is a bit more pricey than I am excited to spend on art at this time in my life but there may be a time when it is. I do not think it is outrageously priced for being an old piece of sketching by some dude I’ve never heard of but I think I’ll wait until I’m bringing in 6 figures regularly rather than just 3.
